Health care is a key issue in the presidential campaign, and Texans have an opportunity to make their voices heard in the Nov. 4 General Election.
Those elected will make decisions critical to the future of health care. I am asking you and your colleagues across the state to host voter registration drives in the next three months. This will help mobilize Texas’ more than 340,000 hospital employees and make them influential participants in the General Election in November.
To assist your hospital or health system in hosting a successful drive, THA has prepared an online campaign kit following the theme "VOTE. Your Health Care Depends on It." The toolkit includes general information about voting in Texas, a step-by-step planning guide, timeline, sample correspondence, artwork, and other helpful information. In addition, you’ll also find tools for conducting a get-out-the-vote campaign closer to the Nov. 4 General Election.
I hope you’ll encourage your employees to register and vote. Be sure to include patients, family members and other visitors, as well. A voter registration drive is an ideal community service. Encourage everyone to vote! Their health care depends on it.
If you have questions about the upcoming election, contact Lisa Kepple, THA’s director of political action programs, at 512/465-1047. If you have questions about this kit or any of the materials, please contact THA’s Public Relations and Communication Department at 512/465-1050 or e-mail Kathy Li.
