Opportunities abound for involvement in leadership roles at the Texas Hospital Association. Every policy, position statement and action taken by THA is the result of member involvement and input at many levels. THA truly is a member-centric organization where your voice can be heard through the following:
-
The hospital-elected, 30-member Board of Trustees represents every region of the state and all ownership types, ensuring that all member constituencies are well represented in top-level discussions. THA’s organizational structure further reaches out to members through a structure of councils, committees and regional representatives.
-
To aid in developing strong, united positions on public policy issues, 60 individuals serve on the Council on Policy Development. As the Association’s most influential group, the COPD provides an arena for discussion and debate of issues before making recommendations to the THA Board. Council members include representatives from the Association’s constituency sections, as well as CEOs, chief nursing and financial officers, physicians, trustees and attorneys.
-
Numerous policy committees composed of hospital technical experts provide input and guidance to the COPD on issues such as managed care, billing, Medicaid, quality care, workforce and more.
-
Regional advisory boards act as a conduit of information between the Association’s 16 divisions and the THA Board. These regional groups give individual members yet another opportunity for involvement in key public policy issues. Regional forums are held twice each year in various cities throughout Texas to give members a chance to visit with THA staff. And, board-level committees are appointed to oversee Association business on everything from bylaws to long-term care.
If you want to better understand the issues impacting Texas hospitals, and work toward common solutions, there’s a role for you in THA.
